Our heroes are in a bar in America, sometime in the late 1980s. This is where Tarl Cabot is drowning his sorrows. He’s soon joined by a Rick Moranis stand-in called Watney Smith. Anyway, Tarl’s ring suddenly starts glowing, lightning occurs, and they both find themselves in a desert. This is a sequel and Tarl has been here before. He is clearly pleased to be back – probably because he got it on with a foxy brunette last time he was here. Plus, in this world, he is revered as a hero. Watney, on the other hand, is deeply distressed. This causes him to lose his glasses, say a succession of annoying things, and repeat Tarl’s name incessantly. Then a gang of horsemen attack. Rather than mounting a charge they decide to ride around in a circle, allowing Tarl to dispatch them one by one using the back of his elbow. After that they enter the city of Ko-Ro-Ba, whereupon it is announced that the legendary Tarl Cabot has returned. Every inhabitant of the city then takes their turn to exclaim the fact (his name is said about 50 times over the course of the next three minutes). When it is fully established that Tarl Cabot is, in this world, revered as a hero, he is reunited with the foxy brunette, Talena. | ||||
